Without records, every spawn is a first spawn — start logging today and next year you will have a catalogued program.

By 4848 One FarmPublished April 21, 2026

What to Record

Pair identifiers (tag, photo, tank).

Spawn date, trigger used, water parameters before and during spawn.

Egg count estimate, hatch rate, week-one survival, week-four survival.

Any deformities noted and cull count.

Growth milestones (first flake, first color, first sellable).

Template Formats

Paper notebook works but is unsearchable.

Google Sheets with a tab per pair allows comparison across spawns and years.

Airtable or Notion for breeders managing 10+ pairs.

Review Rhythm

Weekly — update current grow-outs.

Monthly — compare survival rates across pairs. Flag underperformers.

Annually — identify breeding stock to retire and promote.
