Shelving

Heavy-duty steel shelves rated 250kg+ per shelf. A 10 gallon tank with water weighs about 45kg.

Space shelves 45cm apart for 10 gallon tanks, 60cm for 20 gallon.

Three-shelf rack fits 9 to 15 tanks in 60cm floor footprint.

Electrical Safety

Install drip loops on every cable. GFCI outlet for every rack.

Total watts = sum of heaters + lights + air pump. A 15 amp circuit handles around 1800 watts.

Never daisy-chain extension cords.

Central Air

Linear piston air pump (20 to 40L/min) drives all sponge filters.

PVC manifold with needle valves controls flow per tank.

Much cheaper than individual air pumps.

Water Change Systems

Python siphon with faucet adapter for manual changes.

Advanced: gravity-feed aged water barrel with manifold for drip system.

Temperature Control

Heat the room not individual tanks. A space heater with thermostat saves electricity.

Keep room at 24 to 26°C. Individual heaters only for warmer species.
