Body Evaluation
Length-to-height ratio of 3:1. Spine must be straight with no curvature. Body fully filled out without bloating.
Males and females have different body standards — males longer and leaner, females rounder.
Finnage
Caudal (tail), dorsal, anal, pelvic, and pectoral fins all evaluated. Symmetry and completeness are key.
No ragged edges, no gaps, no curled tips. Ray branching counted in some classes.
Color Classes
Solid, bicolor, multicolor, metallic, pattern (marble, dragon, butterfly). Each class has specific color distribution requirements.
Color intensity, purity, and uniformity are scored. Washed-out color disqualifies in top classes.
Deportment
How the fish carries itself in the show jar. Active, fins extended, flaring when prompted.
A fish that hides or refuses to flare loses major points regardless of other qualities.
