Max size 3-3.5 inches. Iridescent rainbow colors on body, flowing rainbow fins on males.
Native to the Congo River basin, Africa.
Tank Setup
40 gallons minimum for a school of 6-8. Long tank preferred.
Moderate water — pH 6.5-7.5, GH 8-15. More flexible than Amazon tetras.
Diet
Larger mouths than neons — standard tropical pellets, flakes, bloodworms.
Hungry eaters. Feed 2-3 times daily.
Behavior
Peaceful but males may nip each other during breeding display. Provide a school of 6+ to diffuse tension.
Schooling is loose compared to rummy-nose but beautiful when comfortable.
