Identify the Snail
Pond snails (small, brown, fast-breeding) — most common pest.
Bladder snails (small, clear shells) — also fast breeders.
Mystery snails (large, gentle) — beneficial.
Assassin snails (yellow/black banded) — beneficial predator.
Lettuce Trap
Place a leaf of romaine or zucchini in tank overnight.
Snails climb on. Remove leaf with snails attached.
Repeat 5-7 days for visible reduction.
Assassin Snails
1-2 assassin snails eat 1-2 pest snails per day.
Population shifts within 1-2 months.
Compatible with most peaceful community tanks.
Loaches and Puffers
Yoyo loaches, clown loaches, freshwater puffers eat snails.
But these have other care requirements that may not fit your tank.
Reduce Overfeeding
Snails multiply when food is abundant.
Cut feeding 30%, snail population drops 30%.
