What Is PPS-Pro?
Perpetual Preservation System — Pro version. Developed by Edward in 2008. Targets 10ppm NO3, 1ppm PO4, 20ppm K, plus micros daily.
Different from EI (Estimative Index) which doses heavier and resets weekly. PPS-Pro aims for stable daily consumption.
Dry Salt Calculation
Use PPS-Pro calculator (nilocg, aquaticplantcentral). Input tank volume to get daily dose of KNO3, KH2PO4, K2SO4, trace mix.
Mix into concentrated bottles — dose 5-20ml daily from each bottle.
Daily Routine
Dose each morning before lights-on. Macros (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) together. Micros (iron, trace) separately.
Weekly 30-50% water change still recommended for pest prevention and algae control.
When to Choose PPS-Pro
If you want lean daily dosing without weekly reset water changes. Good for large tanks where 50% weekly change is hard.
EI is simpler for beginners. PPS-Pro rewards precision.
