Common Patterns

Mickey Mouse — black "Mickey" pattern on tail.

Wagtail — solid body color with black tail.

Rainbow — multiple colors blended.

Tuxedo — half-and-half color split.

Coral — bright orange/red bodies.

Easy to Breed

Females arrive pregnant. Drop 20-50 fry every 4-6 weeks.

No special breeding setup — fry survive in heavily planted community tank.

Care

pH 7.0-8.0. Hard water preferred.

Tropical temperature (76-78°F).

Omnivorous — flakes, frozen bloodworms, vegetables.

Fry Survival

Heavy plant cover (java moss, water sprite) gives fry hiding places.

Floating plants protect from adult predation.

Fry eat crushed flakes or baby brine shrimp.

  • Avoid mixing with male guppies — unwanted crosses
  • Multiple females per male reduces female stress
  • Cull adult fish aggressively to keep population under control
