Lily-pad like leaves 1-3cm across. Long trailing roots provide fry hiding spots.
Needs calm surface — filter outflow that splashes drowns them.
Water Lettuce
Larger rosettes (5-10cm). Looks like miniature heads of lettuce floating on surface.
Sensitive to heat above 30°C and high light. Can burn under intense LEDs.
Duckweed
Tiny 2-3mm leaves. Spreads rapidly — covers surface in days.
Invasive — use only if you want full surface coverage. Extremely hard to remove.
Design Tip
Clip airline tubing around a surface area to contain floating plants. Prevents full tank coverage.
Partial shade from floaters helps combat algae in bright tanks.
