Tall Stems (High Tech)
Rotala sp., Ludwigia sp., Pogostemon stellatus. Create bushy green and red walls.
Need regular topping and replanting to maintain density.
Vallisneria (Low Tech)
Classic grass-like background plant. Grows tall (30-60cm) with ribbon-like leaves.
Hardy, undemanding, but can spread aggressively via runners.
Sword Plants
Amazon sword (Echinodorus amazonicus) — bold broad leaves. Grows to 30-40cm.
Heavy root feeder. Add root tabs every 3-4 months.
Jungle Vallisneria
Very tall (60-80cm). Can be cut down to height if needed.
Great for large tanks 300L+ where tall backgrounds look natural.
